King Cobra Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Protect your investment.

IMPORTANT DAILY CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS!!

Never leave pretreatment solution in your machine overnight, doing so will result in parts being damaged and voiding your warranty.

1. Remove all pretreatment from machine by removing the feed line and letting it drain into your pretreatment container. Purge pretreat from high pressure side into a clean container so none is wasted.

2. Place feed line into jug of Distilled Water and purge through the system until water is coming out clear.

3. Leave Distilled Water in the machine overnight to ensure that any pretreat possible left behind will not dry.

Optional: Remove the nozzle and set in 50/50 Distilled Water/Simple Green solution overnight . If you do not wish to remove the nozzle be sure that any pretreat is removed from the outside of the nozzle.

Daily Maintenance

At the end of your work day:

Flush all pretreatment solution out your machine.

Flush remaining pretreatment with distilled water.

Leave distilled water in the machine until next use.

Ensure no pretreatment is left on the outside of the nozzle or nozzle body.

Optional:

Remove nozzle, Filter or Check-Valve and place in a cup of distilled water.

Monthly Maintenance

Every month we recommend doing the following:

Wipe down entire machine to remove build up of pretreatment.

Apply WD40 to platen slides and slide bearings.

Ensure the drive belt still has good tension, if loose re adjust.

Remove service cover and check for any leaks around the pump area inside the machine. A flashlight may be required to better see inside the machine.

Service Cover

Always make sure the service cover panel is in place, the service cover panel is located under the platen and keeps pretreatment from entering the machine. If removed and not replaced, pretreatment can get into the machine and onto the electronics. If you spray your electronics with pretreatment and damage occurs, this is not covered under your warranty.

Filter w/ Check-Valve

If your nozzle produces a few drips after a spray cycle even after properly purging the system with pretreat, please follow the instruction on how to use the provided check-valve. For proper priming instructions, please visit https://cobradtg.com/kcum/king-cobra-laser-guide/

With the system already primed, remove the nozzle and stock filter.
Insert the provided check-valve and re-attach nozzle.
Purge the system for a few seconds to push out any air introduced while installing the check-valve.

If your system is dry, you will not be able to pull in any fluid with the check-valve installed. The check-valve must be removed to prime the system.

When removing pretreat from your system the check-valve must be removed first, remove the check-valve and leave the nozzle off to remove all pretreatment. Once your pretreatment is removed, purge water through the system then re-install the check-valve and nozzle and continue to purge water through to ensure the check-valve and nozzle are cleaned of pretreatment.

Only use the provided check-valve if there are drips at the end of your spray cycles.

Will not power on

Lost power in middle of operation

Loose Power Cord

Power Supply Malfunction

Check that power cord is firmly pressed into outlet on back out the machine.

Check that LED status light located on the back of the Power Supply inside the machine is illuminated GREEN. Try another outlet in your shop on a different circuit. If LED is still not illuminating, contact customer service.

Machine will not prime Check-Valve Installed

Stuck Air Pocket

Make sure the check-valve is not installed in the nozzle body, follow provided instructions on how to use the check valve.

Place jug level with the machine or Manually pour fluid in the feed line while holding it up above the machine, press the purge button to free air from the pump. Continue to load fluid as normal.

Clogged Filter

Air In System

Clean or Replace Nozzle.

Replace Filter.

Make sure all air is purged from the lines.

Platen not stopping at end of spray cycle Platen Is Jamming

Limit Switch Needs Adjustment

Make sure there are no obstacles in the way of the platen that is causing it to jam. Make sure rails are lubricated.

Adjust limit switch arm to ensure actuation when platen bracket reaches end of travel.

Platen is jittery when running

Clicking sound during platen operation.

Drive belt is loose. Check that drive belt has good tension. Belt should be fairly tight.

Adjust drive belt tension.

Machine has power but will not run. Limit switch is activated or jammed

Electronic Malfunction

First check that the purge function is still working by pressing the purge button to see if the pump activates and the nozzle sprays. If the purge function works continue to next step.

If platen is in the fully extended position or limit switch is activated, the machine will not run a spray cycle. If platen is in the ready position and problem still occurs, check that the limit switch is not jammed by pressing the actuator arm down on the limit switch. You should hear an audible clicking sound from the switch and the actuator arm should automatically return to the up and ready position.

If the limit switch is actuating and you are still experiencing an issue, there may be a an internal issue with the limit switch or activate switch or a malfunction with the main controller inside the machine. Please contact customer service for further assistance.
